Jewish Heroes of the Wild West (Marrion Maidens)
"Jewish Heroes of the Wild West" has been designed for young readers. Adapted from "Jews Among the Indians" by M.L. Marks, it contains the true stories of four immigrant men who played exciting roles in various aspects of Western development during the nineteenth century. Sigmund Schlesinger became the hero of one of the five major battles fought on the Western plains. Solomon Bibo settled in New Mexico where he became chief of the Acoma Indians pueblo. Solomon Carvalho was the artist for the fifth expedition of John Charles Fremont. Julius Meyer spoke a number of Indian dialects and lived among them for a long time.
